The SARS-CoV-2 Antigen Rapid Test is an antigen coronatest and an aid to identify active infections with the SARS-CoV-2 corona virus.
Corona Rapid Test - The SARS-CoV-2 Antigen Rapid Test will be performed by testing samples collected from the nasal cavity. Within 15-30 minutes after taking the test the Antigen Rapid Test will indicate whether viral proteins have been detected in the nasal sample. The test is 96% accurate and easy to administer. The video below explains how this test - under supervision - can be used to test children.
When to use - The test is most effective in the first two to nine days after symptoms appeared, this is when the viral load in the upper respiratory tract is the highest. In this phase we speak of an active infection.
Positive test result - A positive test result is a clear indication that the tested person is infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus and that he/she is also infectious to others.
A negative test result means that the tested person most likely will not be infectious. However, it does not necessarily mean that the tested person is not infected.
Also in case of a negative result: respect the corona guidelines. Keep a distance, wear a face mask, regularly wash the hands and stay alert to health complaints. Make an appointment with a GGD test location if you experience corona related complaints.
Please note, the Antigen Rapid Test is a diagnostic test intended for professional use only.
Authorised self test - The SARS-CoV-2 Antigen Rapid Test has a CE-certification and has been approved as self test by TuV Rheinland, an official notified body of the EU. Further, the German Paul Ehrlich Institute, the research institute that is part of the German Ministry of Health, has officially assessed the test and concluded that it is "reflecting the current state of the art”. Currently, the Antigen Rapid Test is being distributed among all K-12 children by the Austrian Ministry of Education, and in Germany too this test has been introduced to K-12 schools. The SARS-CoV-2 Antigen Rapid test has also been included in the list of recommended tests by the Belgian Federal Agency for Medicines and Health Products (FAGG).
The SARS-CoV-2 Antigen Rapid Test detects the presence of proteins (so called “antigens”) which are located on the surface of the virus. If viral proteins have been detected, two purple red lines will appear in the test kit. To read the results, laboratory equipment will not be needed.
To get a good result, advance the swab along the floor of the nose deeply into the nose until the backwall of the nasopharynx has been met.
The SARS-CoV-2 Antigen Rapid Test is manufactured by Lepu Medical Co., a high quality, Chinese producer of high tech-tech devices and equipment, and active on the European and American market for eight years. The European headquarter of Lepu Medical is located in the Netherlands.
